Visit Nepal Year 2020 promoted in IsraelThursday, February 14th, 2019
Nepal participated at the International Mediterranean Tourism Market (IMTM) held from February 12-13, 2018 at Tel Aviv Fairground, Israel. The IMTM is the largest annual professional tourism fair of its kind in the Eastern Mediterranean. It is the ideal forum for showcasing destinations and providing abundant opportunities for travel professionals to exchange travel information and conducts effective business meetings and inspiring consumers through the power of travel.
Nepal’s participation at the Fair was organized by Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) along with the attendance of two Nepalese tourism companies: Master Himalaya Treks and Exhibition and Everest Link Travels and Tours.
This platform has been used by Nepal to primarily promote the Visit Nepal Year 2020 Campaign. This participation has equally been effective in communicating the fresh updates on tourism front and creating the visibility of Nepal as an premier holiday destination in Israel.
Earlier on February 11, 2019, Nepal Embassy in Tel Aviv and NTB jointly organized ‘Nepal Evening’ program at Hotel Dan Panorama with the main objective of promoting the VNY 2020 Campaign. Speaking on the occasion, HE Ambassador Dr. Anjan Shakya highlighted on the Nepal-Israel diplomatic relations and invited the Israeli people to visit Nepal for the fun-filled and exciting ‘Lifetime Experiences’. Mr. Rohini Prasad Khanal, Manager of NTB made a presentation on destination Nepal and communicated the audience about Nepal’s mega campaign ‘VNY2020’. Mr. Nadav Ben Yehuda, the famous Mountaineer, Photographer and Speaker from Israel also made a presentation about his adventurous Expeditions to the Himalayas in Nepal and shared his life changing incident in Mt. Kanchanjungha Mountain last year. He also highlighted on the most amazing facts about culture, nature, people, flora and fauna, and topography of Nepal. Ms. Anjali Subedi, a seasoned journalist from Nepal also spoke about the Nepal’s amazing tourism attractions and possibilities of investment in Nepal by foreigners. Nepalese cultural dances were performed and Nepali cuisine was served on the occasion.
Israel is the promising tourist source market for Nepal. Most Israelis view Nepal as the adventure, spiritually healing and fulfilling tourist destination with smiling, friendly and welcoming people. They usually visit Kathmandu,Pokhara, Chitwan and trek in the Annapurna or Everest region.
In 2018, Nepal reached a milestone with 1,173,072 tourist arrivals. The total number of Israeli tourist arrivals in Nepal in 2018 was 6,913. With vision of getting 2 million tourist arrivals in 2020 and 5 million by 2030, Nepal’s hopes are anchored on the growth of arrivals from close neighbors and these regions.
