Nepal Evening Program successfully concluded in Kolkata, IndiaThursday, July 18th, 2019

The Consulate General of Nepal in Kolkata, India, Nepal Tourism Board and Buddha Air jointly organized Nepal Evening Program, a destination promotion event on Nepal with special focus on the campaign of the Government of Nepal Visit Nepal 2020 on 10th July 2019 in Hotel The Oberoi Grand at Jawaharlal Nehru Road, Kolkata amid the presence of the officials of the Government of West Bengal and the Government of Nepal, the leaders of business sector and travel trade fraternity of both the countries, media, travel writers, leaders of Nepalese Diaspora in Kolkata and Nepal lovers among others.

The program was organized on the occasion of the starting of Kathmandu-Kolkata-Kathmandu flights by Buddha Air. Now, Kolkata is connected by Buddha Air having three flights a week-Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Before this, only Air India had direct flight to Kathmandu from Kolkata.

Honourable Mayor of Kolkata and Minister for Urban Development and Municipal Affairs Mr. Firhad Hakim graced the function as the chief guest of the event. The other dignitaries present in the program were the Consul General of Nepal in Kolkata Mr. Ekanarayan Aryal, the Director of Indian Cultural Research Council (ICCR), Ministry of External Affairs of the Indian Government Mr. Gautam De, the President of Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI) Mr. Satish K. More and the Chariman of Travel Agents Federation of India (TAFI) Eastern India Mr. Anil Punjabi.

Addressing the program, the Chief Guest Honourable Mayor of Kolkata and Minister for Urban Development and Municipal Affairs of West Bengal Mr. Firhad Hakim highlighted on Nepal- India mutual co-operation for shared benefit. Focusing on the prospect of tourism business, honorable Minister focused for mutual co-operation among the travel trade fraternity of both the countries. He further emphasized that Nepal is the next home for the people of West Bengal and further reiterated that the number of the people of West Bengal will surely increase in the coming days as Nepal is one of the much-loved destination for the people of West Bengal. The Consul General of Nepal in Kolkata, Mr. Eknarayan Aryal highlighted the issue that the Stable governments in both the countries are working for establishing better relations on the basis of mutual benefit. He further emphasized that the relation among the people and the proximity of culture and religion of both the countries are the assets that could be converted into the real tourism potentials. Addressing the program, Mr. Gautam De, Director, Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) focused on the issue of cultural exchange between two countries. The President of Confederation of Nepalsese Industries (CNI) Mr. Satish K More also addressed the function and appealed the Indian investors to invest in Nepal. He also highlighted that tourism business between both the countries can lead into economic prosperity of both the countries. Similarly, Mr. Anil Punjabi, Chairman, TAFI Eastern India highlighted that business prospect in both the countries should be explored.

During the program, an extensive presentation on potentials and prospects of Nepalese Tourism was delivered by Nepal Tourism Board’s Manager Mr. Santosh Kumar Ghimire. He highlighted on diverse potentials of Nepalese tourism and focused on experiences that could be real life- time experiences for Bengali tourist. He also highlighted on Visit Nepal Campaign 2020 during his presentation.

The program which was attended by around 250 individuals representing the different sectors was successful to disseminate the message of the vibrant and diverse tourism products in Nepal and the message of the national tourism campaign – Visit Nepal Year 2020.
