Tourism Expo Japan 2026 Concludes Successfully, Showcasing Strong Tourism PotentialSunday, September 27th, 2026
TOKYO, JAPAN – September 27, 2026
The Nepal Tourism Board (NTB), together with nine leading travel trade enterprises and hospitality partners, successfully participated at Tourism Expo Japan 2026, held from September 24 to 27, 2026, at Tokyo Big Sight in Tokyo, Japan.
Jointly organized by the Japan Travel and Tourism Association (JTTA), the Japan Association of Travel Agents (JATA), and the Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO), the event operated under the theme “The Changing Nature of Travel”. Drawing approximately 1,420 companies and organizations from 74 countries, the expo served as an essential global platform for destination promotion and international B2B networking.
Nepal’s active physical presence at the exhibition carried significant weight, sending a clear, reassuring message to international buyers and visitors: Nepal is safe, operational, and actively welcoming international visitors. Following global media coverage of recent localized monsoon impacts along specific northern transit corridors, such as the Bhotekoshi river area, NTB utilized the fair to provide transparent and verified updates on destination readiness.
Delegation representatives reassured tour operators, travel trade buyers, and media professionals that primary tourism hubs-including Kathmandu, Pokhara, Chitwan, and Lumbini-remain unaffected. The delegation highlighted that major trekking circuits-including Everest, Annapurna, Langtang, and Manaslu – are fully open, secure, and ready to welcome trekking and adventure enthusiasts.
Japan remains a crucial, high-yield market for Nepal, with travelers demonstrating strong interest in cultural heritage, spiritual pilgrimages, high-altitude trekking, luxury eco-resorts, and wellness travel. The four-day event facilitated intensive B2B meetings between participating Nepalese companies and Japanese travel buyers, aimed at driving future seasonal bookings and forging long-term travel trade partnerships. The execution of the Nepal Pavilion was further facilitated by diplomatic support and presence from the Embassy of Nepal in Tokyo.
The NTB delegation was represented at the expo by Senior Officers Mr. Pradip Gaire and Mr. Yub Raj Gurung. The participating travel trade enterprises, hospitality brands, and national carriers from Nepal included:
- Gochali Tours and Travels Pvt. Ltd.
- Sumegh Tours and Travels Pvt. Ltd.
- Himalayan Guides Nepal Treks & Expedition Pvt. Ltd.
- Langtang Ri Trekking & Expedition Pvt. Ltd.
- Ghale Treks & Expedition Pvt. Ltd.
- Buddha Maya Gardens Pvt. Ltd.
- Rupakot Resort Pvt. Ltd.
- Chhaya Devi Complex Ltd. (Aloft Kathmandu Thamel)
- Gorkha International Travels Pvt. Ltd.
- Nepal Airlines Corporation
The Nepal Tourism Board remains steadfast in maintaining transparent communication with global travel partners to build market confidence, foster international partnerships, and expand Nepal’s presence across strategic global markets with the concept of private public partnership. The participation in Tourism Expo Japan 2026 has been proved as a powerful platform to advocate Nepalcalling campaign and to publicize Nepal Wellness Year 2026 in the prospective Japanese and international source market.
