Nepal Showcases Its Sustainable Tourism Vision at World Travel Market (WTM) London 2025Friday, November 7th, 2025
London, 6 November 2025 – Nepal made a dynamic and inspiring impression at the World Travel Market (WTM) 2025, held at ExCeL London, with a vibrant presentation of its tourism offerings, authentic culture, and a strong message of sustainability and community empowerment.
The Nepal Pavilion, located at Stall No. N12-511, emerged as one of the most engaging stands at the event. It drew global attention from travel professionals, media representatives, and buyers through its authentic Nepali atmosphere, warm hospitality, and cultural showcases.


A major attraction at the pavilion was the traditional Lakhe dance, accompanied by live Newari music, which captivated audiences and celebrated Nepal’s rich cultural heritage. The lively performances offered visitors a glimpse into Nepal’s living traditions, symbolizing the nation’s unity of culture, community, and creativity.
The Nepal delegation was led by Mr. Hari Prasad Mainali, Secretary of the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, and Mr. Deepak Raj Joshi, Chief Executive Officer of the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB). Mr. Bipin Duwadi, Charge d’Affaires at the Embassy of Nepal in the UK, also visited the pavilion, commending the team for promoting Nepal’s image as a sustainable and experience-rich destination.


Showcasing Sustainable Tourism and Circular Economy Vision
As part of Nepal’s participation, CEO Mr. Deepak Raj Joshi took part in several important sideline events during WTM 2025, emphasizing Nepal’s leadership in sustainable and community-driven tourism.
- He addressed an exclusive media briefing at Gulmi Restaurant, highlighting Nepal’s latest tourism developments, community-based experiences, and sustainability-driven initiatives.
- He participated in a panel discussion titled “Sustainable Shift: Transforming Tourism Through a Circular Economy”, emphasizing collaboration among government, private sector, and communities to achieve genuine and measurable progress in responsible tourism.
- Mr. Joshi was also a featured speaker at the PATA (Pacific Asia Travel Association) Networking Event held on the sidelines of WTM London. In his remarks, he shared Nepal’s experience in promoting regenerative tourism and highlighted how PATA platforms foster regional cooperation, innovation, and resilience in the global travel landscape.
“Nepal is not only a destination of natural beauty and adventure but also a living example of harmony between people and the environment,” said Mr. Deepak Raj Joshi, CEO of the Nepal Tourism Board. “Our focus is on promoting tourism that empowers communities, preserves culture, and ensures that the benefits of travel are shared equitably. Sustainable tourism is not a trend for Nepal — it is our pathway to the future.”


Cultural Evening: Celebrating Nepal in London
Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) in collaboration with Community Homestay Network (CHN) hosted an exclusive cultural evening titled “Celebrating Nepal” at Gulmi Restaurant & Bar, London.
The event highlighted authentic community stories, diverse gastronomy, and emerging tourism destinations—from Dhankuta to Bhada and Bardiya—showcasing the diversity and vitality of experiences awaiting travellers in Nepal. The gathering brought together travel professionals, media, influencers, and tourism enthusiasts to exchange insights on responsible and community-based tourism, with an emphasis on cultural preservation, local empowerment, and inclusive growth.
The evening also featured traditional Nepali music and cuisine, offering guests a genuine taste of Nepal’s warmth, hospitality, and creativity.
