Nepal’s Participation at KOTFA Concludes SuccessfullyFriday, June 17th, 2016

SEOUL, South Korea, June 17, 2016 – This year’s Korean World Tourism Fair (KOTFA) 2016, has been held successfully from 9-12 June, 2016 in Seoul, Korea. KOTFA, with more than 500 exhibitors from 60 countries, is Korea’s largest tourism fair. Nepal made its active presence in Nepal Stand: D 443 Hall A in this fair. Nepal’s participation was a product of joint co-ordination between Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) and Embassy of Nepal, Seoul, S. Korea.

Mr. Shankar Das Bairagi, Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Government of Nepal, visited the Nepal stall and commended the joint effort. Mr. Chiranjivi Khanal, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Finance and Member of Executive Committee of NTB, attended the fair as an observer. He represented Nepal in the opening ceremony. Mr. Kiran Shakya, Charge d’Affairs, Embassy of Nepal, Seoul, also visited the Nepal Stall and other Officials of the Embassy were in the Nepal Stall throughout the fair. Mr. K.P. Sitoula – NTB HPRR for S. Korea was also present in the fair to make Nepal’s participation a success.

Nepal Stall was crowded with the keen visitors throughout the fair with lots of queries and travel plans to Nepal. Lumbini was the prime focus of Nepal in the fair. Many Koreans are still unaware that Buddha was born in Nepal. Nepal’s presence was an eye opener to such visitors. Most of the queries during the fair were related to Lumbini, Birthplace of Buddha, trekking, air connectivity and sightseeing. There were also some queries about the post earthquake situation of Nepal.

Nepal’s participation in KOTFA 2016 has been successful to give positive vibes among potential Korean travelers. Nepal Tourism Board provided the visitors with the necessary information about Nepal distributing various brochures, posters and souvenirs.

The representatives of NATTA Western Regional Association visited the fair on the second day and made fruitful connections with their Korean counterparts. They conducted a Sales Mission in Seoul on 13th June, 2016. The program was supported by NTB.
