Meeting between his Excellency the Ambassador of Thailand – Mr. Vosita Vorasaph and the CEO of Nepal Tourism Board- Dr. Dhananjay RegmiMonday, April 26th, 2021

A courtesy meeting between his Excellency the Ambassador of Thailand to Nepal Mr. Vosita Vorasaph and the Chief Executive Officer of Nepal Tourism Board- Dr. Dhananjay Regmi was held in the Royal Thai Embassy on April 20, 2021, with an aim of future promotional campaign. Thailand contributes to a large number of inbound tourists to Nepal while Nepal is a major outbound for Thailand. Taking this in consideration also both the countries expressed their strong interest to boost tourism through collaboration. CEO Dr. Dhananjay Regmi said that Nepal is the most desired Buddhist destination for Thai Tourists where Shakyamani Gautam Buddha was born. Buddhism has been the binding factor for establishing this strong aura between Nepal and Thailand. With this motive also NTB is working rigorously in the development of Buddhist Circuits where Kapilvastu and Ramagram are included along with Lumbini. Similarly, he even mentioned that nearly 30000 Thai people travel Lumbini and with the completion of Gautam Buddha International Airport, Thai Tourist can have direct access to Lumbini. Their length of stay will also increase aiding to local economy. Likewise, he requested a joint promotional campaign for both of the countries in their national television and his Excellency the Ambassador of Thailand – Mr. Vosita Vorasaph assured to consult with the Tourism Authority of Thailand regarding the same. Furthermore, the CEO of Nepal Tourism Board- Dr. Dhananjay Regmi also expressed his strategy to present Nepal with a different identity among the Thai tourists which is more than mountains. It is for all seasons and all age groups.

His Excellency the Ambassador of Thailand – Mr. Vosita Vorasaph presented his view on the commonality of culture and shared values between Nepal and Thailand. He was so much impressed with the rich nature and culture of Nepal. He said Nepal has a lot to and with joint cooperation both the countries can share their best practices. In addition, he even expressed the growing interest of Thai youngsters to trekking. At present also Thai team is here to climb Mt. Everest and His Excellency advised that this can be a good opportunity to promote trekking among Thai tourists. Besides trekking also, His Excellency said that Thai People are interested to visit Chitwan due to the fascination of unique one-horned rhino and easy accessibility from Kathmandu. Moreover, he has put forward his positive thoughts to promote Nepal in Thailand.
In the similar manner, Both the countries stressed in the continuation of high level diplomatic visits and exchange their best practices that have always played vital role in smoothening the relationships as in the past. Seeing the current COVID-19 scenario also both of the countries should focus and plan for possible future collaboration. Thailand is among the top ten source market in terms of tourist arrival in Nepal. In 2019 A.D. the number of Thailand Tourist arrival was 41,653.
