Press Release

Distinguished media persons,

Following the successful hosting of the First Video Challenge this year to unravel tourism destination with enough tourism development potentiality of natural, cultural heritages, costumes, introduction of the castes, culinary arts and cultural assets, We Will Rise Foundation will be hosting Second such event in April 2020. Viewed from the creation of employment opportunities, poverty alleviation and inclusive development, tourism sector holds much importance in our national life. As the Government of Nepal has declared to observe 2020 as Visit Nepal Year, this video challenge has attracted much utility. The occasion will sensitize our people for visiting other places of touristic interests. If we can promote the submitted videos, we believe, it will definitely contribute to help promote our domestic and international tourism.  Due to this fact, we have felt a responsibility to continue this video challenge.

Our last video challenge proved instrumental to let the people realize that to promote one’s touristic spots, it is the duty of our own people. The theme of “Mero Gaun Mero Thaun” proved catalytic role in enhancing the latent potentiality and we received a total of 132 videos from seven provinces from enthusiastic participants. Among those received videos, 47 videos were selected from 10 disciplines and the final selection and award giving ceremony was solemnized on 1 July 2019 at the Hotel del’ Annapurna in Kathmandu. The event was jointly hosted with cooperation from Nepal Tourism Board, Visit Nepal 2020 Secretariat and Film Development Board of Nepal. This year, we are further encouraged to receive the active cooperation from Gandaki Province and Non-Resident Nepalese Association whose wings have widened to more than 80 countries.

This video challenge will run for a total of 100 days. Those intending to participate need to send their videos between 1 December 2019 to 9 March 2020. The minimum quality of the video to be submitted must be between Full HD 1920×1080 pixel. Video should not exceed the duration of 5 minutes.

Participants can register through Foundation’s website and send their video through Google drive. Selection Committee will select 70 videos from total received videos for awarding in 10 disciplines. Cash prizes will be given to 10 selected videos amidst a special ceremony.

This video challenge is being inspired by the idea that we too can do something through the slogan “We Will Rise” from our field and to contribute to the “Samriddha Nepal, Sukhi Nepali” movement being declared by our Government.

We, therefore, request to all concerned to extend all possible help to us in this national campaign.
