Nepal Reinforces International Tourism Partnerships in ITB China 2026!Thursday, May 28th, 2026
Shanghai, China, 28 May 2026 – ITB China 2026, one of the leading B2B travel trade exhibitions dedicated to the Chinese outbound travel market, was successfully held from 26–28 May 2026 at the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition & Convention Center. The three-day international event brought together global tourism boards, destination management companies, travel trade professionals, tour operators, buyers and media representatives from across the world, creating a dynamic platform for networking, business exchange and destination promotion.
ITB China 2026 continued to strengthen its position as a key marketplace for the Chinese travel industry, facilitating pre-scheduled business appointments between international suppliers and qualified Chinese buyers. The event highlighted the evolving trends in China’s outbound tourism sector, including growing demand for personalized travel experiences, sustainable tourism practices, digital transformation, and diversified travel interests across different traveler segments. A series of conferences, panel discussions and presentations were organized alongside the exhibition, featuring industry leaders sharing insights on market trends and future opportunities.
Nepal Tourism Board actively participated in ITB China 2026 with a vibrant and culturally rich Nepal Pavilion, showcasing the country’s global tourism brand “Naturally Nepal: Once is not Enough.” The Nepal stall attracted significant attention from trade visitors, travel operators and media representatives, serving as a lively platform for promoting Nepal’s diverse tourism offerings.
A key focus of Nepal’s promotion during the event was the upcoming “Visit Nepal – Wellness Tourism Year 2027,” an ambitious national initiative aimed at positioning Nepal as a premier global destination for wellness, mindfulness, yoga, meditation, natural healing and holistic travel experiences. The initiative was strongly highlighted among Chinese travel trade partners, emphasizing Nepal’s unique combination of Himalayan serenity, spiritual heritage, traditional healing practices and pristine natural environments, making it highly suitable for wellness-oriented travelers.
In addition to wellness tourism, Nepal also promoted its core tourism segments including adventure travel, trekking and mountaineering, cultural heritage tours, spiritual journeys, wildlife experiences, and luxury experiential tourism. The Nepal Pavilion served as an effective platform to showcase these diversified products while reinforcing Nepal’s image as a year-round destination for Chinese and international travelers.
The Nepal delegation engaged in productive business meetings with Chinese outbound tour operators, travel agencies, MICE planners and international partners, exploring opportunities for increased tourist arrivals and collaborative marketing initiatives. The participation was instrumental in strengthening Nepal’s presence in the Chinese market and building momentum for future tourism growth.
The Nepal delegation was led by Nepal Tourism Board, along with the Seven representatives – Destinago Tours & Travels Pvt.Ltd., Journey DMC, Outdoor Expeditions, Pearl Holidays Pvt.Ltd., Rupakot Resort, Shuang Qi Tours Pvt. Ltd., and The Trek Nepal from Nepal’s travel and tourism private sector. Participating companies expressed satisfaction with the strong interest shown by Chinese buyers and the successful networking opportunities facilitated during the exhibition.
